Mamas & Papas Armadillo Flip Review
glance, the Armadillo Flip is a very pretty pushchair indeed. We have it
in ‘Teal Tide’, which is very striking, but not too flamboyant for
everyday use. The matte gray chassis is the perfect colour match for the teal
seat unit. The hood is huge, coming round to almost meet the seat at the front
when the seat is upright and the hood is fully extended. It features a large
window so that you are able to keep a keen eye on your little one whilst they
are world facing. This is secured shut using magnets, so if your little one is
asleep there is no chance of this waking them up. The seat liner is very
soft and padded, and is made from a memory foam-like material, so it would be
quite easy for anyone to fall asleep in there!
coated handle, although not height adjustable, is very comfortable to hold, and
feels very hard wearing. The barrel in the middle of the handle is actually the
very thing responsible for the superb fold on this pushchair – more on this
later. Braking is taken care of by a pedal that sits just inside the right rear
wheel. Press down for on and lift with your toe for off. Brake action is light
and easy. At the front, the wheels are lockable by means of a lever behind the
wheel axel and can also be removed at the press of a button. The Mamas &
Papas Armadillo Flip has a decent sized basket measuring 40cm x 45cm x 15cm
that is best accessed from the front by lifting the leg rest.
on the Mamas & Papas Armadillo Flip is really flexible. The clever seat can
be used parent or world facing and as it measures 50cm x 28cm, it will last you
well into your child’s toddler years, with excellent shoulder room. Backrest
adjustment on the Mamas & Papas Armadillo Flip is one-handed. It has three
positions; upright, 45 degrees, or lie flat. Pull the yellow lever on the back
of the seat to drop it back down to its lie flat position. The seat can be
raised with one finger back up to its upright position when required. The 5
point harness has padded shoulder and crotch straps. To do it up you need to
clasp together each side and slide this into the main buckle. It is a little
tight, but made easier by the chunky buckle size. Reversing the seat is as easy
as sliding the yellow tabs on top of the lower seat frame back and squeezing
the buttons underneath the seat as you lift it off. You can then drop it back
in place facing the other way.
the Mamas & Papas Armadillo Flip fold; it’s as simple as it is clever.
First, lift the yellow tab at the back of the seat to move the backrest forward
until it touches the footrest. Now, slide the yellow tab on the handle and
twist the centre of the handle towards you. Then, move the handle away from you
until it is over the front of the pushchair and grab the handle that is on the
back of the seat base and lift. The auto lock engages and you are don
thing is that the seat is now folded over on itself, protecting the padding
from the elements. We have to say it is brilliant. When you get the position of
the front wheels right, it is freestanding.
Mamas & Papas Armadillo Flip Review Conclusion
looking, well made and clever, the Mamas & Papas Armadillo Flip is a
trendy, practical pushchair. The hood is brilliant, being both huge and very
quiet to use. However, this is trumped by the excellent fold and parent facing
ability of the seat.
it is by no means cheap, however if you are looking for one pushchair to use in
and around town from birth until well into your toddler’s older years, then the
Mamas & Papas Armadillo Flip will most probably be for you.
the Mamas & Papas Armadillo Flip 4.5 out of 5 stars!
