Positive Outlook
I worked at Mamas & Papas part-time for more than a year
Pros
The staff, management and entire atmosphere of the store is great. The store really go out of their way to delivery great customer service and make sure their staff are happy, confident and well trained and prepared/to achieve targets. I would absolutely recommend anyone to join Mamas and Papas as a brand, it’s been a really wonderful experience.
Cons
Nothing! I wouldn’t change a thing.
Advice to Management
The management team have always been really supportive of me and treated me well, even in moving on to another employer. Don’t change anything!

I worked at Mamas & Papas part-time for less than a year
Pros
Luckily my colleagues were absolutely brilliant, and I was so lucky to work with such nice people.
Fantastic pay at £9 per hour
Nice customers (mostly)
Music playlist has a couple great bangers
35% discount
Bonuses are available
18-21 year olds get the same pay as those over 21I really miss the shop on a lot of ways, mostly because of my amazing colleagues (and the pay)..
Cons
Northcote Road is an incredibly quiet branch; I spent hours making sure the coat hangers were parallel; drove me insane! You’re not allowed to stand still for even a second…even with nothing to do..had to make up some jobs to keep myself busy.
Learning all the products is tricky
Upper management slightly shambolic: sent thick tables and clips to clip on sheeting- which wouldn’t even come close to fitting! The… one I bent to try and fit pinged off like a bullet! Thank God the store was too quiet for any real toddlers to turn up! No one in upper management checked whether the clips could fit round the tables before sending-event was nation-wide. Found other ways to attach plastic sheeting of doom: ever tried to sellotape a plastic tablecloth? Nightmare.

Advice to Management
Ask questions and listen to those who work on the shop floor…we hear what the customers keep coming in and asking for, and we know what they need from us, firsthand!

I worked at Mamas & Papas full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
If you live in London, Mamas and Papas can provide a decent hourly rate of pay for its employees which rivals that of other retailers. If you remain at a lower level of ranking it is possible to make friends within the company.
Cons
The management do not do any work and treat less senior staff members poorly. Senior staff members are advised not to talk to sales consultants and not to become friendly with them. There is an unhealthy atmosphere which both employees and customers are exposed to.
Advice to Management
Management need to understand that there is no hierarchy and that it is not professional to share less senior staff members secrets amongst one another. Staff memebers should be treated fairly regardless of how ‘pally’ they are with management. It’s clear that if you are not in their little group that they will try and push you out eventually. You can only make career progression here if you agree to abandon any… morality you had.
