In a nutshell

A fantastic and affordable choice for those with modern tastes wanting function and style in a 3-wheeler pushchair

Pros:
Adjustable handle, extremely lightweight, stylish yet functional, adjustable leg rest.

Cons:
Small shopping basket, additional accessories must be purchased

Sleek, compact and stylish is what you find when you delve into the Mamas & Papas Luna Mix. This 3-wheeler is not just flash and glamour; it’s a comfortable, substantial yet lightweight pushchair that will last from birth to toddlerhood.

The Mamas & Papas brand was established in 1981 by David and Luisa Scacchetti and has grown today to be one of the UK’s number one nursery brands. The Mamas & Papas Luna Mix is a pushchair that can adapt to fit your moods with interchangeable hoods, liners and head huggers. The Luna Mix is a 3-wheeler buggy, where as the Luna is a standard 4-wheel pushchair. I found the Mamas & Papas Luna Mix to be extremely lightweight and quite “zippy”.  I loved the way my daughter Ella sat up and could see out so easily.

What we love

The Mamas & Papas Luna Mix is an impressive and trendy pushchair. It’s very easy to fold and is quite compact. It’s advertised as small enough to fit into the boot of a Mini, which could happen but I imagine you’d be hard pressed to get anything else in.

The initial assembly of the Mamas & Papas Luna Mix was very straightforward with no need for explanation other than how to attach the hood and bumper bar. My daughter Ella particularly enjoyed this bumper bar as it made her feel like she was really “out there” whilst riding.

My favourite element of the Mamas & Papas Luna Mix was the handle. I enjoy walking and when I’m out and about, the walks can last quite a while. I found the foamy handle extremely comfortable yet firm enough not to slip. I could steer one-handed thanks to the lightweight nature of the Mamas & Papas Luna Mix, which is very handy. My husband, who is 6 foot 3 inches tall, enjoyed the fact that the Mamas & Papas Luna Mix handle was adjustable and found that it handled extremely well on grass or hard surfaces.

The seat has a “kick-stand” leg rest, which can be clipped into place for maximum leg comfort.  You can also leave it down if your child prefers.

What to watch out for

As with many 3-wheeler buggies, the shopping basket for the Mamas & Papas Luna Mix is very small.  You won’t get much shopping in it but I was able to clip my changing bag easily onto the handle, which kept the shopping basket free.

The Mamas & Papas Luna Mix advertises its “mixability”, allowing you to interchange hoods, liners and head huggers but in order to do so, you do have to purchase those interchangeable accessories separately, so you need to factor that cost in if the “mixability” is a big draw card for you.

The hood of the Mamas & Papas Luna Mix is adequate but doesn’t come down quite far enough for our liking.

My least favourite feature of the Mamas & Papas Luna Mix was the harness. The shoulder straps aren’t attached to the back of the seat, which allows for a great deal more movement from your child. A smaller child will easily extricate themselves from the straps with little effort, as it’s difficult to tighten them enough when they aren’t attached to the seat back.

Who is the Mamas & Papas Luna Mix best for?

Mums and dads after a lightweight, manoeuvrable buggy that allows their personal style to shine.

MadeForMums verdict

The Mamas & Papas Luna Mix is a great purchase for those after a stylish yet highly functional 3-wheeler buggy. Parents’ comfort is definitely considered with the Luna Mix thanks to its cushioned handle and smooth ride. You’ll find the shopping basket small and the additional accessories a bit pricey, but the Mamas & Papas Luna Mix is a sensible investment for those after something that handles well and can fit small car boots.
