Carefree enthusiasm is everywhere in this energetic neighborhood centered on Hongik University, Korea’s top art school. From its assortment of murals to the occasional amateur street performances, creativity and expression make up the wild and beating heart of vibrant Hongdae. At the Free and Hope Market (weekends at the Hongdae Children’s Playground) you’ll find one of Seoul’s most popular handmade and creative markets drawing consistent crowds. At Hongdae, there’s never a shortage of things to do and see; food and drink options are nearly endless as are shops and noraebang (karaoke) rooms. Hongdae is also one of Seoul’s top party and club scenes catering to a younger demographic; if a packed club isn’t your scene, you’ll also find a range of music venues and bars offering live music in all genres. Although Hongdae has lost much of its unique appeal and undergone rapid commercialization in recent years, be sure to explore Hongdae’s edges in areas such as Sangsu-dong and Yeonnam-dong where Hongdae’s fiercely independent streak still runs freely.

I reached Seoul in the midnight, so prior to that i have informed the hotel that i will reach the hotel probably 2-3am in the morning. Upon reaching the guesthouse, the door is locked and no one is around! I tried to contact the number on the notice board and it is not contactable at all! I tried to find other hotels and it’s all fully booked. I ended up didn’t sleep for the whole night. When i returned at 7am, no one is there still. There’s this one woman who helped us to go into the lobby of the guesthouse, she unable to get us check in as she is the worker of the downstair’s restaurant not of the guesthouse (Which i believe restaurant and guesthouse are the same owner). I waited there for another 2 hours because the woman told me the person who does the check in will probably come in at 9am. At 930am, there’s no one there still! I went to restaurant and this guy who is in charge of the check in said:”Oh you came late last night and no one is there” and not even a Sorry! The Hotel is dirty and smelly, the sewage system didn’t work well, you can see stool in the toilet bowl. Don’t stay there!! Not worth of your money!…

If you are kind of 24 hours traveler who wanted to enjoy life among the youngster, then this is a place for you. It closes to almost everything, clubs, restaurants, shops, stations, and cafes. Some of them open for 24 hours, some of them until 2 am. The guesthouse itself has 2 floors. They have a kitchen where you can cook your food, each floor has bathrooms, it would be better if they add more bathroom. There is a computer where you can use to check emails or just doing the browsing. The staff is really nice, willing to help you with what you need. The owner is very kind, he has the restaurant on the first floor.

This is such amazing, clean and cozy place I’ve ever been in Seoul! The staff is just amazing, specially Oscar! Oscar is a guy from the reception who speak good English and able to help you for everything! If you need something even if he is busy he will do it!!! He is just 10 out of 10!!!! The owner is also so sociable and care about his guests!! The female bed dorm is a bit small but really comfortable. Also there is kitchen and breakfast! Not to mention the location is close to everything! Clubs, restaurants, bar, convenience shops and metro. I would stay here again!

the + : 1. near sangsu station, just 300-400 meters walking distances. and also there’s other station like hapjeong and hongik but not as close as sangsu. 2. just a walked away from the best night life area, there’s a lot of bars, pub, restaurants, and minimarkets that open until late at night. 3. the staff (oscar and lee) was very helpful. especially oscar who help us booked the van to the airport. 4. there’s a lift! well it was a big relief for me because i can’t imagine dragging my travel luggage up to 5th floor. hehe… 5. there’s dryer machine, washing machine, and hair dryer. you can use it for free also. the – : 1. the room was small. i slept in a 6 bed room (3 double deck bed). 2. there’s no heater in the room so sometimes it feels chilly at night and early in the morning because it still early april when i stayed there. maybe they have it but i didn’t knew where. 3. there’s only 2 shared bathroom for all 5th floor guests (about 5-6 rooms). it would be nice if they manage some more bathrooms so we don’t have to waste time waiting to take a bath. …

the owener never see a guesthouse for a place for tired travellers. it is only for money, fill as much people as they can. when you booked a single room or twin room, you are in tiny small room like a prisoner , and with the poor thin wall, you cannot take a good rest. And it happens that the manager will come to you and demand you to move from your bed, cause they have some other group reservation in the dorm, so you have to move from your bed, or, YOU LEAVE !! I saw the boss, who is a short korean man was arguing with a Chinese woman guests, and he threaten the girl. how could a guesthouse owener being so rude… I booked a double bed , but they give me a tiny room with a bunk bed….and tell me this is the only one room they can provide, if I dont like,I can GO…this is not a legal place even. this is not A GUESTHOUSE JUST FILL AS MUCH PEOPLE AS THEY CAN.…
