If you’re planning for the arrival of a new baby, then there’s a lot to think about. Were do you start? Thankfully, we’ve compiled an Essentials Checklist of all those items you might need to help get you going.

We’ve all been there – standing in a high street changing room, trying to decide between a garish floral number or jeans so tight that they’re practically cutting off the circulation to your ankles. And in the end, you realise you don’t actually like either of them.

If only you knew what you were looking for before you’d set off on this failed shopping trip.

When you’re shopping for a baby, it’s a little easier, in that you know you will need a pushchair, a cot, a highchair – all the usual stuff. You’re certainly not stuck for ideas, the issue comes in narrowing down your choices, so you’re not buying so much that you could open your own branch of Mamas & Papas in your back bedroom.

Making a essentials checklist…

An expectant father sits on a sofa holding a laptop while his pregnant partner kneels next to him, also looking at the laptop screen. They are in a modern looking house that is stylishly furnished.

The best thing you can do before you start shopping for baby is making a list. A list of the things you’ll need, the things you think you can do without, and the things you’d like to treat yourself too. Then at least you know where you – and your budget – stand.

Thankfully, we’ve taken the liberty of doing that for you. Our Essential Items Checklist outlines all the things we think it’s useful for you to buy before you baby shows up.

From everything you need for packing that hospital bag, to all the essentials that help you take baby out into the world or make them feel right at home. It’s all here. Why not download your copy to print out and tick off as you go.
